Mike has been steady in Therapies since this past June and is doing amazing.  They have him walking up and down the halls with a walker and in the parallel bars.  The treadmill was very difficult for all of us in the beginning, teaching him how to pick up his foot and bend his knee and at the same time try to keep his hips straight.  Now he is up to 16 minutes on the treadmill and the therapists just have to cue him.
They also have him walking in the bars with just one hand.  That so far I think is the most difficult exercise for him.  His brain and body connection has a hard time getting all parts to work, but in just 4 weeks I have seen him improve and he is on his way....

This past August Mike "walked" me down a very short aisle and had a wonderful chat with my soon to be husband.  It was wonderful to have him stand and talk to Steve...

This past fall Mike was invited to be in a fashion show for Logan Magazine.  He was the hit of the show.

We have been able to get Mike up to Schweitzer Mountain this year.  They have a sitski and have been wonderful with Mike.  He has loved it and I hope to get him up there for spring skiing.

We are also skipping the hyperbaric chamber this spring.    He is doing so well with his therapies that I can't see taking him out of them for 2 months right now.  We are also going to start him with a personal trainer and us at the local gym.  He is ready...
So between activities, starting up violin again and therapies the chamber is not an option this Spring.  Going to shoot for Fall.

I am also going to be checking into some summer courses for him.  I don't care if he fails them, I think he needs to get out and be in that environment.  He needs more stimulation socially and educationally.  Anything to try to help his memory and future independence.

His short term memory gets better all the time.  Granted it is exceptionally small steps, but he will remember things he needs to tell me such as he had a dream or he needs something in his bathroom, or someone called...  He is also remembering places that we have been, he might not remember what we did, but he recognizes.

He is still happy and loves to joke around.  I am so grateful for his hugs and loves and kisses.

Please continue to Pray for Mike.  He has come so far.

March 10 2011,

We made it through our firs
t winter in our new home.  We had a lot of snow, but we managed....

I wasn't able to get Mike out of the house as much as I would have liked to, but due to winter conditions and not having a cove
r over the ramp or out where I park the truck made it to dangerous at times for either one of us....
I hope to have the ramp re done and a cover over it before next winter.  A garage will probably wait until the next year, but at least it is one step closer...

At Christmas some  friends of Mike's came over for the afternoon and laughed and played and I loved every minute of it.  I have always loved listening to all these kids just laugh and be kids..... this was the first time all these kids have been together with Mike in 3 years.  They have seen him individually but not all at once...

Mike is still doing amazing.  He is still taking care of himself in the mornings and trying to be as independent as he can be for where he is at physically and mentally with the healing of his brain and body.  He is even feeding the dogs, still doing dishes and tries to do garbage and other chores that he can do.  For about 10 days in January I was sick.  He asked me one day what he could do for me.  It was a day that help was there.  She had done some laundry for me but had left for the day.   I made a comment about the laundry.  He went into the laundry room, got the clothes out of the dryer, drug the basked out of the room, I put the basket on his lap and he got himself into the living room and folded the clothes for me!!

He is also doing better with his Violin.  His teacher is amazing.  She understands his disability, but yet she also see's that he remembers everything or just about everything with the Violin...It is getting his body to work the way it is supposed to.  Last week he played a song without the music.  I was so excited.  He still has a long way to go, but he has also come a very long way.....

He is having spurts of short term memory.  I will say something and he will tell me he remembers me saying that or he will be watching a show and remember a scene....  Getting better!!

Yesterday he had his annual eye appointment.  His vision is still normal.  The wonderful news is that his left field of vision blindness has improved by 50% since the first test
3 years ago!!!

He starts the hyperbaric chamber again in April.  I am really excited to see what improves this round.  I hope to have him in it again in the fall.  I plan on pool and just playing this summer.  The boy and I really  need to get out and have some fun.

I am so very proud of Mike and his drive to still get better and be an independent man.  Only time will tell if he will ever be independent.  Lets keep praying for Mike.....
